Stefan Gates, the whizz-bang author of The Extraodinary Cookbook, loves exploring the science behind food. In this series of The Food Factory, Stefan takes on the challenge to reveal the secrets of supermarket food by making his own from scratch. In the first episode, we find out if real tomatoes are used in instant soup and how is orange squash made to create such an intense orangey flavour?
